The very interesting February issue of Lady Globes is out today ,with my new fashion advertorial in it. We brought yesterday this really lovely white ferret to be photographed with a model , a la : The Lady with an Ermine But the Ferret bit me really hard and the model wouldn't hold him after the incident. Walking yesterday in Dizengof st. I saw this flower shop ( one of my favorites ) , and it was so similar to the shot I took of the lovely flower shop , in Paris, last winter. But ,still ,Paris is so much more romantic and Tel Aviv , so prosaic . I prefer Tel -Aviv , though :)

I have photographed these pictures in the 80's ,but when I show it, many people mistake it for the way the 80's looked. But this is a mistake : I took these photographs then as reminiscent of older times ,relics of a world that is about to disappear.  Tel Aviv in the 80's was full of colorful restaurants and trendy people . I've always loved detective and spy stories , so when Yedioth Achronot asked me to photograph the famous Israeli actor , Moshe Ivgi ,I decided to portray him like the Israeli version of Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe. For the location I chose a typical Tel- Aviv apartment ,a little shabby and very bare. The place I'd imagine a soulful detective to choose as his hideaway.

Yesterday , while waiting at my hairdresser's I was fascinated by this young boy , who has just started working there. His name is Yarden ,and he has studied hair for two years. He started working in the saloon two days ago. I asked to photograph him outside in the street and he joined me very naturally. Yarden is a surfer as well ,and he will soon go to the army.

One of the secrets of Tel Aviv is a lovely store, "Darwish" hidden in Dov Hoz Street. We have started working yesterday, on the website for Unitaf - kindergartens  for children of migrant workers. The aim of the website is to raise money to open more kindergartens. Every summer I have the same mission - to find a real forest for the winter catalogs. It always happens around the end of July when the whole country is dry and the average temperature is around 35 degrees Celsius.  So last summer we didn't go far, just a suburb of Tel -Aviv , but we brought smoke with us ! The dry wood turned magical.   Like a bewitched forest.

I was so happy finding Fausi Azar Inn in Nazareth that I dragged there a whole crew and shot there this fashion spread ,for the women's weekly - L'aisha. The main room I am really fed up with posh hotels where you have all these rules and regulations ,plus you pay lots of money for a place that is much smaller than your home. The balcony of the hostel is still shared with the neighbors.

When it comes to close ups you have to be very precise. These posters for Ginger are 2.40 meters tall and are placed behind the counters in the stores Which enables a real good look. So we worked very very precisely on the make up and then delicately on the photo shop editing. The make up artist is Ondine Paz And the photo shop artist,this time  is me :)

 I have shot this picture a few years ago ,exactly at this time of the year. The inspiration was Björk's music ,full of forest creatures. We have shot it in Israel,though, where there is not much of a forest :) I have done a lot of location scouting and found this little paradise at Mount Carmel. I have photographed this new ad in a private diamonds showroom in Ramat - Gan. The place feels like the diamond district in NYC ,all gaurds and lots of religious men. Even the same type of lousy cafes :) At the showroom ,though, we had great espresso.

This is such a typical Tel -Aviv scene. I've shot it for a building company in order to illustrate the lively Rothschild Boulevard scene. You can spot relationships beeing made via walking the dog all along the boulevard. What a nice excuse to start a conversation:)
