After the success of my two columns of street photography, one for New York Magazine and the one for WWD, I decided to try my luck on my recent trip to Lisbon. Well it was a lot more difficult and at the same time more interesting. I had to find the more hip neighborhoods and to sort out which people look interesting to me , while in Tel Aviv my home town my ideas are pretty set about where and who. So here are a few faces I've liked:

I love it that all the colors in Lisbon are mixed and you can not tell the origin of the people.

הבטחתי לספר על מרכז קניות יוצא דופן בליסבון. ובכן, ראיתי כמה מרכזי קניות יוצאי דופן. על השוק המקורה העתיק ששופץ וחציו הפך לשוק אוכל עכשווי ומגניב סיפרתי כאן , בפוסט על מה אכלנו בליסבון. המקום השני עליו אני רוצה לספר, ובעיקר להראות אותו , הוא בית מפואר וענק של סוחר פורטוגזי מהמאה השבע עשרה שעבר גילגולים שונים ומשונים ולפני זמן לא רב הפך למרכז קניות. מעין קניון יפהפה שכולו מוקדש לסחורות המיוצרות בפורטוגל. אותי הקסים בעיקר המבנה, אבל גם החנויות מקסימות מאוד. הנה הכתובת

אחד הדברים הנוספים שמאוד אהבתי באמבייקסדה הוא השיפוץ הלא מדוקדק, כמו באינדיפנדנטה, המלון בו שהינו. בשני המקומות, ובעוד מקומות רבים בליסבון, אם מסיבות של תקציב, ואם מסיבות של סטייל, המבנים המפוארים משופצים רק חלקית. חלק מהקירות נשארים מקולפים, חלק מהשטיחים המרופטים נשארים במקומם, רצפת הפרקט והחלונות הישנים/עתיקים רק נצבעים בלכה, וזה מקסים !                    י

I promised to write about an extraordinary shopping center in Lisbon. Well, I've seen a few exceptional shopping centers. I have written about the ancient food market here. The second place I want to tell you about, and especially to show it, is a magnificent and huge Portuguese merchant's home from the seventeenth-century that was turned into a sophisticated kind of shopping center. A beautiful mall entirely dedicated to goods manufactured in Portugal. I was especially fascinated me with the building, but also with the very charming shops. Here's the addressEmbaixadaPraça do Príncipe Real, 26LisbonMore information on where you can get this link One of the other things I really liked about Embaixada is non-rigorous refurbishment, like at The Independent, the hotel where we stayed. In both places, and many other places in Lisbon, whether for reasons of budget, or for reasons of style, the magnificent buildings are only partially renovated. Some of the walls remain peeled, some threadbare carpets remain in place, parquet and old windows / Antique just inked with lacquer, which is lovely!

We stayed at the cool and perfect hotel The Independente. Location, price, rooms, downstairs bar,friendly and helpful staff, a rooftop restaurant, all perfect .... but pay attention - this is not a luxury hotel, nor a boutique hotel!  While to me it's all perfect and despite the visible beauty of the hotel in these images here, the hotel is made up of two buildings that were once magnificent in the past and are renovated, rather lightly with a lot rough corners, which personally I like a lot cause it respects the buildings past. התאכסנו במלון הכי cool ומושלם The Independente. המיקום, המחיר, החדרים, בר למטה, מסעדה על הגג.... אבל קחו לתשומת ליבכם שזה אינו מלון פאר וגם לא מלון בוטיק. אמנם בעיני הכל מושלם אבל למרות היופי הנשקף בבירור בתמונות מדובר בשני בניינים שהיו מפוארים בעבר ועברו שיפוץ קליל שהשאיר הרבה פינות מחוספסות.

Each hotel room is different. Since I did not take pictures of our lovely room before messing it up, I photographed the next room. There are also nostalgic collections of various types in each room and an espresso machine.                     i
כל חדר במלון שונה מרעהו. מאחר ולא הספקתי לצלם את החדר המקסים שלנו לפני שבילגנו אותו צילמתי את החדר הסמוך. גם בחדרים יש אוספים נוסטלגיים מסוגים שונים וגם מכונת אספרסו טובה.
