מר פנסון הוא אחד מ 12 מסורבי עלייה לישראל שהחליטו לחטוף מטוס נוסעים אזרחי על מנת להימלט מברית המועצות. למרות התכנון המדוקדק, אנשי הק.ג.ב. הצליחו לעלות על עקבותיהם, וחברי
הקבוצה נעצרו בשדה התעופה ונדונו לתקופות מאסר ממושכות בכלא הסובייטי.
בסופו של דבר, שוחררו 12 היהודים שהיו מעורבים בפרשה בעסקאות חילופי שבויים בין ברית המועצות למערב וכך מימשו את שאיפתם לעלות לישראל

We chose to shoot in the studio of the artist Boris Penson.
Mr. Penson is one of 12 refuseniks who decided to hijack an airplane to escape from the Soviet Union. Despite careful planning, the KGB were able to track down, and members of the group were arrested at the airport and sentenced to long prison terms in a Soviet prison.

Eventually , 12 Jews were released at a prisoner exchange transactions between the West and the Soviet Union and they exercised their desire and emigrated to Israel.
Penson was 24 during the action, and sat nine years in a Soviet prison.
